Mālā Sail Charters ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or write to us, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Mālā Sail Charters. If you have any question about this policy or about your personal data, you can contact us at malasailcharters@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

• Contact form: your name, your email address, the trip you are interested in and the message you write to us.
• Review form: your name, an optional email address, whether you travelled with us or hosted a retreat, the trip, your rating and the words you write. Reviews are checked by hand, and if yours is published on this site it shows only your name and country — never your email address.
• Newsletter: your email address.
• Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider may record your IP address and basic connection details in server logs when you visit the site.

Please do not send us sensitive personal information (for example, health or financial details) through the forms.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

• To answer your enquiry and prepare a booking: we use your details to reply to you and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• To publish customer reviews: we use the details you send through the review form to check your review and, where you ask us to, publish it on this site.
• To send you our newsletter and offers: based on the consent you give us when you subscribe. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
• To keep the website secure and working: based on our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its visitors.

4. How long we keep it

• Enquiries: for as long as needed to answer you and follow up, and in any case no longer than 2 years from our last contact.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, or after a long period of inactivity.

After that, we delete or anonymise your data.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We only share it with the service providers that help us run the website and communicate with you, and only as far as necessary:

• Web3Forms — delivers the messages you send through our forms to our email inbox.
• GitHub, Inc. — hosts this website (GitHub Pages).
• Google — provides the web fonts used on the site.
• Padlet — hosts the community board embedded on the site.
• Meta (Instagram / WhatsApp) — only if you choose to contact us through those services.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, they rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The website itself does not set cookies and does not use advertising trackers. However, some embedded or third-party content (for example, the Padlet community board or the Google fonts) may set its own cookies or receive your IP address when it loads. You can control or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
• ask us to delete it;
• ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
• receive it in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time.

8. How we protect your data

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

9. Age

Our services are aimed at adults. If you are under 18, please use the forms only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
